We had fun tonight. That might have been the most fun we've had in a practice this year.
That wasn't intentional, and perhaps that is kind of sad. I get a bit "too serious" about this stuff, and I think that makes things "not very fun" for the kids. There is SO much potential in each of our kids and we sort of look at the whole thing as a way to bring out the best in them. We yell at them, we criticize them, we teach them.... But nobody understands how much we actually LOVE them.
I don't care what the scores have been this year. We've had a great run of winning seasons. We've had a bad run this year. But in the end, the kids still are the greatest thing in the world. Of course we won't tell them that until the end, but they are.
We have no intention of losing the championship. None of us. But regardless of what happens, I sure hope that they have learned a bit about toughness, brotherhood, perserverance, and reaching for a goal that can only be accomplished by playing together. Each kid to his own strength.
We may or may not have a practice on Saturday. It's deer hunting season, Roy wants to see his NFL brother play in person, some kids are sick, and so on. So, we may just say "have a good weekend". But, we may get some kids together at my home to watch some of the games we've played this year. And thanks to Jerry Brooks, we can.
Watch the site, OK? Thanks for letting us be their "coaches"!
